Latest economic data from the US has signaled the country’s recovery is gaining traction, with claims for jobless benefits falling and wholesalers stocking up in anticipation of strong holiday demand.

The Labor Department said initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell by 17-thousand, easing doubt about the jobs market after last month’s surprisingly weak employment report. A separate report from the Commerce Department showed wholesale inventories rose nearly 2 percent in October, suggesting business were growing optimistic about a healthy holiday shopping season.
